Greetings to you from our Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ.
In the way of introduction, I grew up in Springfield
OH, and married my high school sweetheart, Sue. We have been happily
married 47 years and we had four wonderful children. Jim lives in
Lima and Becky and Sherri live in Upper Sandusky. Our son Jeff is
deceased. We also have seven grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren. Yes, we are too young to have great
grandchildren. We feel we are blest to have our children and
grandchildren living so close to us.
When in Springfield, we purchased a bakery business from my parents
and expanded to two bakeries. In 1967 we decided to sell the
business so I could go back to college and seminary. I graduated
from Wittenberg University in 1970 and from Hamma School of Theology
in 1972. I later received a Doctor of Ministry degree from Trinity
Seminary in 1993.
I was ordained in 1972 and I have been called to serve three
parishes: Trinity, Elida 72-78; Triumphant Cross, Trotwood 78-86;
Christ, Carey 86-02. I retired August 31, `02 from Christ, Carey and
now live in Findlay. Since retiring, I have served as Interim Pastor
for three congregations: Trinity, Arcadia, St. Peter, Delphos, and
St. Paul near Jenera.
I contracted to serve you as a part time assistant pastor and I
begin my ministry with you February 1. Sue and I thank you for the
warm hospitality we have enjoyed as members of First Lutheran. It is
not easy to welcome and see someone different doing what you had
seen Pastor Brodbeck and Pastor Bridinger doing for so long. For
some you have only known one pastor, and others may have known more,
but it is still difficult when change takes place. Remember
that the same Holy Spirit calls and gifts all of us to change and
serve the Lord in this place.
You will find that I enjoy having a good time and I believe that is
what God wants us to do as we “Make Christ Known” to a hurting
world. We have the greatest gift to share with our neighbors and
that is the love of God that we have received in and through our
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As far as I am concerned, this church
is the Lord’s and we are only stewards of it for a short time. God’s
gifts are for all people.
I hope you will join us for exciting Spirit filled worship as we
gather with the Lord to hear His word and be blest with His amazing
grace.
Yours in Christ,
Assistant Pastor
Rev. Dr. Paul DeMoss
